Companion animals trust funding awards for companion animal welfare
Companion Animals Trust is dedicated to supporting projects beneficial to the community, those that provide care and protection to companion animals and projects focused on education within the field of companion animal welfare and urban animal management.
Companion Animals Trust is also dedicated to funding high quality science that aims to advance companion animal welfare science and promotes education in companion animal welfare.

Companion Animals Trust Awards are funded by Companion Animals Trust, Companion Animals NZ and SPCA New Zealand.
2024 award closing dates are: 1 February 2025 & 1 July 2025.

Community discretionary award - CURRENTLY CLOSED
This award will fund community projects that fall outside the scope of the other award categories.

Microchipping award
This award will provide funding for microchips and free registrations on the Companion Animals NZ register for community projects that aim to improve animal welfare.

Desexing award
This award will fund community desexing projects of up to $10,000.

Research award - CURRENTLY CLOSED
This award will fund research that is relevant to the field of companion animal welfare and urban animal management, which provides new insight into companion animal welfare and human-animal interactions.

SPCA Desexing Grant - NOW ADMINISTERED DIRECTLY BY SPCA
SPCA’s Desexing Grant is now administered directly by SPCA. The next funding round will open in May 2025, with a July 2025 funding outcome. The grant will be offered as a single annual round, amalgamating previous funding into a larger pool. SPCA aims to expand grant eligibility to include rescue groups that are not registered charities, broadening support for the rescue community. SPCA will announce more details closer to the time.
